Coffee prices doubled in the last year

Coffee is in the news once again for rising prices. Large coffee chains are considering coffee price increases again. Fears of the lack of rain in Brazil could threaten crop in 2015, driving up green bean prices.

Let's look at the 5 year price history of coffee.

Today we find ourselves in the same position then 5 years ago when coffee prices double in 2010 and 2011. Read the CNN report:

I don't remember that the big chains passed on the savings after coffee prices dropped during 2012 and 2013. That price drop was largely due to strong coffee production from Vietnam.
