Sometimes it's the small luxuries in life that make all the difference...
Calculate how much you spend in a cafe over the course of a year. Perhaps, in this tough economic climate, it's time to consider giving up the cafe habit and time to start indulging in some home-made "small luxuries". You may be surprised what you can get for less than you spend going out - home brewing vanilla lattes and caramel macchiatos for yourself and your friends and family is cheaper in the long run and often much yummier.
 

Matthew Algie, the UK’s largest independent coffee roaster, has increased its profits despite a sharp rise in costs. The company said that poor harvests particularly in Colombia had restricted supply and pushed up prices, but consumers were determined to allow themselves little luxuries despite the economic downturn.

The Glasgow-based company sells coffee to hotels and retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Gleneagles Hotel, the Houses of Parliament and others. The operating profit for the company in 2010 increased by 12% to £1.9m and turnover grew by 10% to £33.2m.
