Nespresso's Green Coffee experts regularly criss-cross the globe in search of only the highest quality green coffees from select countries of origin. While working closely with farmers and suppliers at origin, Nespresso’s Green Coffee experts define and select the best and most unique green coffees with specific aroma profiles and exceptional character to ensure the highest quality finished products.

Volluto, one of our most popular varieties, becomes the first NESPRESSO 100% AAA Sustainable Quality coffee, independently verified by Rainforest Alliance. This represents a significant milestone in our pursuit of sustainable quality, and our ability to ensure that the farmers who produce these beans benefit from the quality of their produce.

Volluto is lightly roasted and medium-bodied, with a round and fresh flavour with a cereal hint, reinforced by a touch of acidity. A fine aromatic balance of fruity and woody tones, Volluto is created by combining mostly unwashed Brazilian Arabica coffee (with its mild character and biscuit tone) with washed Arabica coffee from Colombia (with its fruity character). This Grand Cru delivers a light, velvety coffee with the consistency of liquid silk.

The role of the crema
Once prepared, an espresso will continue to develop. Floral flavours tend to develop first, while others, including the heavier, more roasted aromas, take longer to emerge. At this point, the crema is essential. It forms a lid over the coffee and prevents the most volatile aromas from escaping.

Try the sugar test
Sprinkle a spoonful of granulated sugar onto an unstirred crema. The perfect crema will retain the sugar for 8 to 10 seconds, after which the sugar will sink through the crema, creating a cone-shaped hole. The cremas produced by the Nespresso Premium Blends are exceptional.
