Synopsis:

Fun Fact #1: When shopping for perfume, take some coffee with you in your bag and have a good sniff in between smelling each perfume to refresh your nose!

Here are a few tricks that will make your perfume buying experience a successful one:

  • Do you ever wonder why there are coffee beans on perfume counters? Sniffing coffee beans between perfume samples can help clear and reset you sense of smell. Sniff the beans, wait a couple of minutes and then on to your next fragrance.
  • Try perfume samples in the late afternoon. The power of smell is stronger during that time of day.
  • If you are concerned about allergic reactions, try out a perfume and leave it on for at least a couple of hours. Sometimes, allergic reactions can occur on the skin. Other times, you could get a headache as the notes blossom and certain ingredients become alive. No reaction is good news – you can enjoy the perfume without any adverse reactions.
  • When sampling perfume, try no more than two fragrances at a time – one on each arm. Too many fragrances at once can be overwhelming and you may suffer from olfactory fatigue.
  • When testing a perfume, spray on your wrists and experience the scent with your body warmth and chemistry. Also leave it on for at least 5 to 10 minutes so you can find out how the perfume changes as the top notes wear off and the middle notes are revealed.
