Espresso Machine under $500

At the $500 price point, you start to open up a realm of possibilities for brewing espresso. You now enter the pump driven espresso machine.

The reason a pump driven espresso machine is so superior to say a steam driven machine or a stove-top espresso maker is because of the brewing pressure. Steam machines don’t brew your coffee under enough pressure and therefore the espresso not only looks different as there is very little crema, but it tastes much different as well. The magic number here is 9 BARs of pressure.

Here is our list for the best espresso machines under or close to $500.

1.) Saeco X-Small Super-Automatic Espresso Machine (599)

This machine is an all in one coffee center. This machine has a grinder built in, tamps the coffee and ejects the puck all for you. Hit a button, drink espresso. Freshly ground coffee is the best way to drink espresso.

2.) Saeco Via Venezia Espresso Machine (475)

Saeco has three separate models under $500, however we like this model the best as it is packed with features. For instance, this model uses a ball joint swivel steam wand for easy lattes and cappuccinos. You can also remove the bottom tray to fit an incredibly large cup.

     3.) Nespresso Citiz & Nespresso Pixie (269 -369)

Nespresso is an incredible system and ranks high on our list because similar to the super-automatics, the Nespresso system is an all in one coffee bar. You don’t need a grinder. Simply pop in your Nespresso capsule, hit a button and your done. No mess, no fuss. Did we mention the coffee is amazing?

4.) Saeco Aroma Espresso Machine (329)

This model has been around for a long time, for a good reason. This machine is sleek, simple and easy to operate. It also comes in stainless steel version.

5.) Krups XP4600 Silver Art Espresso Machine (349)

This Krups model makes it on our list at an attractive $349.99. Krups has always been fantastic in introducing innovative features and the XP4600 is no exception. Precise tamp means you don’t have to mess around with tamping. There is also an entire Silver Art appliance line-up from Krups including a toaster, juicer, drip coffee maker, and kettle.
